No drought: Armenian scientists’ invention increases yield by 40-60%

The «Aquasource» granules developed by the Armenian company «Eco Technology» are already being called a miracle. According to Ashot Baghdasaryan, head of the company and inventor, the fertilizer is able to absorb excess moisture from the soil and then supply the roots of plants with water. Furthermore, the granules dissolve and retain the minerals from the soil, thus «feeding» the root system of plants.

The new fertilizer not only moisturizes, but also picks up the excess water, without allowing the roots to rot.

Currently, the «Aquasource» granules are used in the test mode by Armenian farmers. In addition, the fertilizer is being tested on a number of international programs, including projects of the World Bank, the WWF’s tree planting in the gorge of Trchkan and UNIDO initiative for the planting of an orchard on the banks of Lake Sevan.

The invention has already generated interest in Russia, USA, India and Iran.

The company has focused on commercial aspects of «Aquasource» abroad. It plans to increase its production from 1.5 to 15-20 tons per month.

Note: 1 hectare of land needs about 90 kilograms of fertilizer, which is about 3 grams per plant, and the use of the granules increases the yield by 40-60%.
