The telecommunications operators in Armenia have agreed to provide the Investigative Committee of the Republic the subscriber data and transcripts of telephone conversations in electronic form. The signed memorandum of understanding formalizes the intentions between the communication shareholders and Investigative Committee.
The IC Press Service has reported that the operators on the basis of court decisions in the past as well used to provide the requested data, but because of the lack of clear regulations the transfer process was time consuming, causing additional inconveniences to the investigation.
Note: The pilot program on the initiative was implemented in Shirak region of Armenia. The experiment showed that the necessary information was transferred to the investigating authorities within 1-4 days. In the event of a successful continuation, the program will be implemented in the whole territory of Armenia.
