Mars media is preparing to shoot a big-budget action-drama «The Story of One Earthquake» about the tragic events of 1988. In October of this year, the first shootings will begin in Moscow. The Director of the movie is Sarik Andreasyan. According to the producer, the main goal is to make a good movie that will touch people, evoke emotions.
In the center of the plot is an Armenian teenager named Robert, whose parents die under the rubble of his own house: the building has fallen due to the negligence of the builders. The culprit of the tragedy — the Russian foreman, is acquitted by the court, and Robert goes through a common destiny for homeless teenagers — an orphanage and then a prison. Subsequently, during the earthquake Robert occurs in freedom and meets with the superintendent, whom the boy swore revenge. On the background of the disaster, the young man has to make a difficult choice.
The film producers, Ruben Dishdishyan and Aram Movsesyan say that the biggest problem is «what we’re going to say to Armenians», as the wound has still not healed, and it hurts a lot. “Just to entertain the Armenian audience will not work, they need some kind of message. I hope we have succeeded in this,» says Movsesyan.
Note: On December 7, 1988 a powerful earthquake in half a minute had destroyed almost the entire Northern part of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, covering the territory with a population of about 1 million people. In the epicenter of the earthquake was the city of Spitak, where the force of tremors reached 11.2 points. The result was a catastrophic earthquake. Before the base was destroyed the city of Spitak and 58 villages; the cities of Leninakan (Gyumri), Stepanavan, Kirovakan (Vanadzor) and more than 300 settlements were also distroyed. According to the official data, 19 thousand became disabled, at least 25 thousand people were killed, 514 thousand people were left homeless.
