Official Response of the “INTER RAO” on the protests in Yerevan

Nikolay Gorelov, “Inter RAO” spokesman, in a telephone conversation with the RUSARMINFO correspondent declared the official position of the company over the protests in Yerevan. «Inter RAO considers that the events in Armenia has moved to the political platitude, and Inter RAO in Armenia is engaged in business and not in politics, and it’s not going to participate in these events.» Gorelov has added that the revision of the tariff is not under discussions, and before August 1 (prior to the entry into force of the new rate confirmed by CRPS) Inter RAO will analyze the situation. Note: At the request of the «Electric Networks of Armenia» (JSC “INTER RAO” is the owner of the CJSC «Electroinic Networks of Armenia») to increase the electricity tariff by 17 AMD, the State Commission for Regulation of Public Services of Armenia on 17 June 2015 decided to raise tariffs on electricity by 6.93 AMD. The decision has raised the dissatisfaction of the society, resulting in mass protests. On June 22, protesters blocked traffic on Baghramyan Avenue in Yerevan, where is located the residence of President Serzh Sargsyan. The mass rally was dispersed by the police in Armenia.
