Samvel Karapetyan — the head of the “Tashir” group of companiesAccording to the recent media reports, the group of companies «Tashir» is interested in acquiring the CJSC «Electric Networks of Armenia», and to this end the company has initiated the increase of electricity tariffs in Armenia. Karen Karapetyan, Deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia and brother of Samvel Karapetyan, the head of the “Tashir” group of companies, today has disseminated a statement denying the abovementioned information. He has qualified the efforts to link the increase of the electricity tariffs with Karapetyan’s family as unreasonable and illogical. In his personal opinion, the increase of the electricity tariffs is undesirable, especially in the proposed amount, taking into consideration the current difficult socio-economic situation of Armenia.

At this moment, the purchase or even the desire to purchase the CJSC «Electric Networks of Armenia» is out of question,” said Karen Karapetyan.Note: On May 8 of 2015 the CJSC «Electric Networks of Armenia” submitted an application to the Commission on regulation of public services of Armenia to increase the electricity tariffs.
