Aleksandr Knobel – head of the International Trade Laboratory of the Gaidar Institute for Economic policy.
Armenia should equally develop trade both with the EU and with the EAEU. Talking about a choice of Armenia between the EU and the EAEU, I am sure that it was a political background in this question about which we don’t know. Perhaps, the safety guarantees, which were provided to Armenia, influenced the choice of the country. Assuming that institutes of the European Union (including the economic sphere)function much better than institutes of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, it is possible to conclude that, in the long term, the association with the EU is more favorable to Armenia for preservation of a free trade zone within the CIS.
