Mutiny on the boat: Uzbek President criticizes Putin

Uzbek President Islam Karimov condemned Russia for the bombings in Syria and the use of new weapons, reports IA REGNUM, referring to the head of one of the diplomatic missions accredited in Uzbekistan.

«Some countries think that they are making the right actions. But before coming in somewhere, you have to think how to get out,» said Islam Karimov at an event in the framework of the visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. At the same time, according to the agency, Karimov used the style of traditional oriental diplomacy, not naming the country, which «came in, not thinking of how to leave,» but in the context of his speech it was obvious that he was speaking about Russia. «One should not be proud of using modern weapons, it is dangerous.»

Karimov’s statement is an expression of certain solidarity towards the Turkic states, says Vladimir Lepekhin, director of the Institute of EurAsEC.

«Last month John Kerry made a tour in the Central Asia to rally the Central Asian republics around the U.S., roughly it’s the same mechanism, based on which the Americans and Turks are friends. The statement by the President of Uzbekistan is due to the inability of a man to look far. He does not see tomorrow, and today depends on economic and political ties with its closest allies, but not with Turkey and the Western countries, among which Karimov sees his closest allies, not realizing that the threat of radical Islamism, eventually, will engulf in Uzbekistan as well,» said Vladimir Lepekhin in his interview to RUSARMINFO. Note: Uzbekistan is a member of the CIS, as well as it has obtained memberships in more than 100 international organizations. In 2012, the country officially suspended its membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization. Uzbekistan is also not interested to join the Eurasian Economic Union.
