On December 9, Moscow will host a meeting of the Military Committee of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which will discuss the measures taken in relation to Turkey, and Russia’s actions in Syria.
The Military Committee meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the committee, Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Yuri Khachaturov. The meeting will be attended by Chiefs of General Staff of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Russia, as well as CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha and Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Anatoly Sidorov.
Russia is in need of support, but hardly anyone except Armenia will support her, — says military expert, a member of the board of experts of the Russian «Center for Strategic Conjunctures», Head of Strategic Planning Association of Border Cooperation, Alexander Sobyanin.
«This meeting will show that the CSTO member states, except Armenia, are not ready to support the Russian position. Americans are actively negotiating with Belarus (over 3 bln. dollars credit), offering all sorts of concessions to Kazakhstan, and, clearly, this is done to ensure that the CSTO countries won’t support Russia,» says Alexander Sobyanin in his interview to RUSARMINFO.
«Today, Barack Obama, in his speech promised to destroy the Islamic State and asked the House of Parliament to support the decision of the military operation in the region. This means that two separate military groups are formed, one of which (US-NATO) is much more stronger, and there won’t be a unified coalition,» notes the expert.
Note: At the request of the Syrian authorities, the Russian Aerospace Forces have launched in the territory of Syria a military operation to eliminate the terrorist groups of the “Islamic State” organization, banned in Russia. On November 24, 2015 the Russian Su-24 was shot down over the territory of Syria by the F-16 of the Turkish Air Force, which became the reason of the sharp deterioration in the relations between Russia and Turkey.
