Russia’s new tax on freight transportation, better known as a tax on truckers, will increase the cost of exported goods from Armenia per wagon by an average of 110-120 dollars, announced recently Arsen Ghazaryan, chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Armenia.
Trade Representative of Armenia at the Armenian Embassy to the Russian Federation Karen Asoyan considers the estimates of his Yerevan colleague as highly inflated.
«The net cost of each kilogram of Armenian goods will increase by only a few cents, which is not critical for the trade turnover between Russia and Armenia, — says Karen Asoyan in his interview to RUSARMINFO. According to him, the trucks from Armenia, in average, pass about 1,5 kilometers on the Russian federal highways. Multiplying kilometers on the value of tax (1.53 ruble –ed.), we will have about 2,400 rubles. And in the case of the two ends — 5000 rubles. Based on today’s dollar exchange rate, the sum is $ 75. If we consider that on average one wagon carries 20 tons of goods, the cost of one kilogram will increase by 11-12 cents.
Note: According to the new Russian tax on freight, for each kilometer of the federal highway a carrier must pay 1.53 rubles. In the case of non-payment of taxes, it is supposed to charge drivers a fine of 450 thousand rubles for a single violation and one million rubles in the future.
