Military expert: Azerbaijani provocations on Karabakh front are initiated by Turkey

The use of heavy weaponry, such as tanks to shell the Armenian territories is an escalation of the conflict initiated by Azerbaijan. The capacity range of weapons used during the shelling is a serious cause for concerns, — says Vladimir Yevseyev, head of Eurasian integration and SCO development department of the CIS Institute, military expert.

«Turkey plays an important role in this escalation. Azerbaijan is not acting without the participation of Turkey. In terms of the strained Russian-Turkish relations, the worsening of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as on the Armenian-Turkish border and along Nakhichevan is in the interests of Turkey,» mentions Vladimir Yevseyev in his interview to RUSARMINFO.

The expert assures that Ankara supports the provocations by Baku, supplying to Azerbaijan missile salvo to fire upon the Armenian villages in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to Yevseyev, the Turkish armament supplies destabilize the situation in the region, and this should be immediately discontinued.

Note: Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan has already informed OSCE chairman personal representative, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk on the use of heavy equipment by Azerbaijan.
