Levon Hayrapetyan’s case will again be sent to the prosecutor’s office

The Chief Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee has filed new charges against Levon Hayrapetyan. In the new version, the businessman is accused of embezzlement of 700 thousand USD in 2010 from the mother of the former Bashkortostan senator Igor Izmestiev, sentenced to life in prison. According to the IC, the money had to be spent on a public campaign in mass media to influence the judgment of the case of Izmestiev. «We receive this accusation for the fourth time with a different wording,» in her interview to RUSARMINFO has said Levon Hayrapetyan’s lawyer Anna Malinina. The investigation of the case is prolonged until November 24 of 2015, after this period the case will be passed to the prosecutor. If the prosecutor’s office approves the accusation, the case will be sent to the court. The deadline for the house arrest in relation to Levon Hayrapetyan expires on September 15. «In my opinion, there’re no grounds for the extension of the house arrest. But based on the extension of the investigation, I can assume that the IC may file a request for the house arrest extension,” says Levon Hayrapetyan’s lawyer. Note: On July 30, the prosecutor’s office returned the case of Levon Hayrapetyan to the Investigative Committee because of the insufficient evidence of guilt.
