INTER RAO. It makes no difference who will conduct the audit of Armenian electric networks

The Armenian government has made its choice over the international company to conduct the audit of «Armenian electric networks», as announced yesterday by RA Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms Vache Gabrielyan. From the five international companies that applied for the call, the preference has been given to the Deloitte Consulting company.

«On August 6, we received the responses from Deloitte and McKinsey. According to the results of our analysis, we suggest to consider Deloitte as the winner, the price bid of which is considerably lower,» Gabrielyan said at the Armenian government session.

INTER RAO has no objection to the choice of the Armenian government, says in an interview to RUSARMINFO the company’s spokesman, Nikolay Gorelov, at the same time adding that INTER RAO has no experience of cooperation with Deloitte Consulting.

«I do not anymore remember when an audit was performed in Inter RAO,» notes Gorelov.

The choice of auditing company, in regards to the words of the Armenian minister, is based on the cost of services provided by the applicants. The price issue is not in the interest of INTER RAO.

«INTER RAO has no relation to the question of the cost of the audit. This question concerns only the Armenian government,» concludes the spokesman of INTER RAO.

Note: From August 1, 2015 has come into force the decision of the Commission on Regulation of Public Services of Armenia (PSRC) to increase the electricity tariffs. The decision of President of Armenia to conduct an independent audit of «Armenian electric networks» (a subsidiary of INTER RAO) was adopted as a result of the mass protests in Yerevan and other cities of the country in which it was demanded to cancel the PSRC decision of June 17, based on the proposal of «Armenian electric networks» to raise the electricity tariff for 7 drams (about 7 cents) per kW/h. The Armenian government decided to compensate for the increased tariffs to the completion of the audit in the company of «Armenian electric networks».
