Renowned Istanbul-Armenian photographer Ara Guler paid a visit to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The result was a new photoshoot of Erdogan’s family. It’s not clear, why a photographer of Armenian descent was chosen for this PR campaign. The Turkish «Hurriyet» writes that Gülen himself appealed to the press secretary of Erdogan and asked for permission to make new photos of Erdogan, since the last time the famous photojournalist photographed Erdogan in 2012, when he was still prime minister.
The newspaper also notes that Ara Gülen presented his book titled «Memories of the old Istanbul» to Erdogan’s family, and the President of Turkey, in his turn, thanked the photographer for his contribution to the art of photography.
Note: Istanbul-Armenian Ara Guler is also known as the «Eye of Istanbul» and «Istanbul photographer.» He began his career in 1950 in the newspaper «Yeni Istanbul», and then he worked for many years with the largest «Hurriyet» newspaper.
